About

Boldly shaped and richly architectural, this matching pair of vintage bedside tables was crafted in Italy circa 1960. Executed in walnut in the Italian Baroque tradition, each petite chest features a sculptural serpentine façade framed by projecting pilasters, deeply stepped moldings, and a substantial molded top.

Each cabinet is fitted with three drawers, all following the undulating contours of the case. The drawer fronts are decorated with molded panels, carved foliate details, and ornate metal pulls, while the interiors show traditional dovetail construction. The outer corners are emphasized by carved pilasters with stylized capitals, adding strong architectural presence despite the compact scale.

Paneled sides and layered moldings continue around the cases, giving the pair a finished appearance from multiple angles. The shaped lower aprons flow into broad bracket feet embellished with carved scrollwork, completing the substantial Baroque silhouette. The warm walnut finish highlights the natural grain and enhances the depth of the carving and molded decoration.

Ideal as bedside nightstands, the tables could also serve as small chests or end tables beside a sofa or pair of chairs.

The pair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use.

Dimensions: Each 27.75” W x 15.25” D x 25.5” H.
